AirPods – Turn Off The Automatic Ear Detection
AirPods is the name of Apple’s latest ($160 worth) gimmick for your ears. Wireless. Effortless. Magical. – This is how Apple describes its new wireless headset for iPhones. Magical probably relates to the automatic ear detection, which enables the AirPods to detect, if they are in ears and should receive an audio signal from the iPhone. You can turn off this automatic ear detection – and here is how you do it!
AirPods – Turn off the automatic ear detection
To turn off the automatic ear detection you have to open the Settings on your iPhone. Go to Bluetooth and choose AirPods there.
Turn off the automatic ear detection to deactivate this feature completely.
What are the benefits of the automatic ear detection?
When the automatic ear detection is active, your AirPods recognize if they are in your ears and if they receive a signal from your iPhone.
The music will be paused, when you take one of the AirPods out of your ear, and it also resumes playing, when you put the AirPod back in.
If you take out both AirPods, the music will stop completely and will not automatically resume again.
On the other side, if the automatic ear detection is deactivated, all audio media (music, videos, podcasts, etc.) will always play on your AirPods, whether you are wearing them or not.
