iCloud Library for Audiobooks & Redownloadable Content

Apple now (finally) allows users from select countries to redownload audiobooks purchased in the iTunes store. It might sound silly to you, but customers who purchased audiobooks could not easily download the same and paid for content again after deleting it. What had been the norm with apps, music, music videos, movies and tv shows or regular ebooks, was just recently added for audiobook users. The only way to retrieve a deleted audiobook purchased on iTunes was to restore your iOS device’s backup.

Redownloads for iTunes audiobooks now available

Check out the official support document to see whether your country is supported in this recent update to content policies and features at Apple. If you are a resident of the United States, the following types of content are currently redownloadable with your iOS devices and Macs:

  • Music
  • Music Videos
  • Movies
  • TV Shows
  • Apps
  • Books
  • Audiobooks

The same rules apply to the UK, Canada as well as the Netherlands and Germany. Many other countries have not been updated in this way and it is unclear when Apple will change the content policies for the respective users.

iCloud library for iBooks users: EPUB & PDF

There is another pleasant piece of news for all of your iBooks users out there: With iOS 9.3, Apple will allow custom ePUB and PDF files to sync via the iCloud library. We are expecting Apple to release iOS 9.3 around the time of the next major keynote, which will be held on March 21st in Cupertino. The download might even be available to the public right on the day of the event.
